We encourage prospective students to explore and apply for external funding opportunities as securing independent funding strengthens PhD applications and affords greater freedom to pursue ambitious research.
Prospective PhD Students
We may take on new PhD students each year. If you are a prospective PhD student, we ask that you do not contact us directly with regard to PhD admissions until after you are admitted, as we will not be able to reply to emails from individual applicants.
Postdoctoral Researchers, Visiting Researchers & Stanford Students
Prospective postdoctoral researchers, visiting researchers, and current Stanford undergraduate, masters, and co-term students interested in joining the lab are encouraged to fill out our prospective member form.
Funding Opportunities
A number of competitive fellowships support PhD study and postdoctoral research in engineering and science. We encourage prospective students and postdocs to explore these opportunities early, as many have deadlines in the fall of the application year.
